A Summer With Chovy: Character Bios (WIP)

The following page is a general description of each of the characters featured in this fanfiction. Considering this is a fanfiction based off the Girl's und Panzer series, most of these characters are already well established in their source material though there are some new characters I've created specifically for this fanfiction. By creating this page, I hope to assist the reader (along with myself for the time being) with some additional background information for some of the characters both from the Girls und Panzer series and those new characters which I've included for this story. New character bios might be added as the story develops so this page is considered not finalized until the story is complete. Characters who have not showed up will have their description empty until futher noticed. All character portraits were created with Koikatsu character editors.

Tochigi Prefecture:

A Region in Japan where this fanfiction takes place.

Tomio (Tommy)

The main protagonist of this fanfiction. Tomio is a 2nd year Japanese high school student who is considered a slacker by his peers and teachers. That is until, he decides to work for the summer after his best friend from school leaves for the United States for vacations. Although he is aimless with life, he has a passion for film making which is how he was able to befriend Nano prior to the events of this story. Just like his best friend, Tomio had never experienced romance. He sometimes likes to joke around but is generally trustworthy with those who he befriends. He also used to be in choir back in middle school but quickly changed to film club after meeting with Nano.

Nano

Tomio’s high school friend. Also a 2nd year student. He is less socially capable than Tomio but doesn’t seem to shy from strangers in the same manner either. He’s original from the US but moved to Japan where some of his relatives reside. He’s an avid film enthusiast and shares many of the same passion for film making as Tomio. Even more so, he’s also into watching Sensha-do matches (primarily just to look at the girls). Just like Tomio, he’s a delinquent and slacker without any care for academics. He’s often criticized for his height but this does not bother him one bit. He had a hate crush for Alisa who was also a former classmate back in their first year of high school before she switched to Saunders University High School.

Giovanni Anzai (Gio)

Anchovy’s cousin and Benito’s son. He’s consider next in line for running the pizzeria joint after his father. He can be rather stubborn sometimes but still cares about the family business as well as the well being of his family. He has an affinity for Italian cars though his mechanical skills are questionable at best. Though he was once considered a bright student years ago though ever since he dropped out from college, he’s been working in the family pizzeria for a sometime. He’s also recently engaged with his future wife who has yet to be introduced to his father or the other characters in this story. He's not familiar with Anchovy's true role in Anzio Girls' High's Sensha-do team.

Benito Anzai

Giovanni’s father and Anchovy’s uncle. He was an entrepreneur who used to do international business before falling in love with Italian food. His trip to Italy influenced him to such an extent that he started his pizzeria joint in the hopes of provided authentic Italian food for Japanese society. His wife passed away many years ago and he’s the sole owner of the family business with Giovanni as the next in line to run the pizzeria. Despite making somewhat of a success with his culinary business, finances haven’t been exactly where he would like them to be.

Romi Anzai

Anchovy’s mother. She was quite prominent with the JSDF and Sensha-do community working alongside such names as Nishizumi and Shimada (Legendary Families associated with Sensha-do). It’s because of her influences and connections that she was able to get Anchovy to run the Anzio Girls’ High School Sensha-do tank team despite the school’s financial problems. Though she’s a kind and caring mother, she’s not aware of her daughter’s desires for her own future. When she’s not on call with the JSDF or Sensha-do, she teaches locally at an elementary school.

Anzio Girls' High School

An Italian Themed School with a lively school culture despite being one of the poorest schools in the Sensha-do scene.

Chiyomi Anzai (Anchovy/Chovy)

Leader of the Anzio Sensha-do tank team and a third year student who's well on her way into going to college. Goes by the title of Duce by her peers. Though sometimes she can get hot-headed at times, she still cares deeply about her team and her family. Of course, her real desire besides tank combat and cooking is literature. More specifically, she dreams to someday write romantic novels. She has this clash of personalities that ranges from shy and timid to outspoken and charismatic depending on the situation. Though she craves for romance, she’s often embarrassed by it and does not like to show affection out in public. She’s also very protective of her own ego and will go through great lengths to try to hide her more sensitive side to others unless they are within her close circle of friends. She hates the fact she has to wear glasses and uses contacts whenever she can. Sometimes, she changes her appearance in order to not get noticed by former classmates and tank team members from her school. Unlike Tomio, she’s somewhat driven by a desire to do something with her life but she suffers from a lack of confidence in part due to her failures in handling the Anzio Sensha-do team despite all the improvements she made for the team.

Carpaccio (Hina)

Anchovy’s secondary Sensha-do commander along with Pepperoni. She’s a 2nd year student at Anzio and is considered to be very pleasant to be around with. She’s calm, collected, and has a very positive mindset but is sometimes to much as ease with her surroundings. She’s the only student in Anzio with some Italian heritage as her mother was originally from Pompeii. Hence, she’s fluent in Italian, Latin, and understands Italian history and culture the best out of her entire school. She was one of the first to befriend Anchovy when she moved in during her 2nd year. Despite being at Anzio longer than Anchovy, she refuses to take the reign of the Sensha-do team for her upcoming 3rd year. She’s also childhood friends with one of the girls from Ooarai Girls Academy (Caesar/Taka-chan).

Pepperoni (Bakaroni)

Anchovy’s other vice commander in the Sensha-do team. She’s more wild and energetic compared to her peers. Quick to act and quick to think. She’s not exactly the brightest when it comes to tactics or pretty much anything in general. Her driving skills are considered some of the best in the Anzio team. Though she’s energetic and high in spirits, she doesn’t have what it takes to lead the team once Anchovy is gone and her temper can sometimes get the worst out of her. She loves cuisine of any kind but especially Italian food (which she’s also very skilled at cooking).

Amaretto

A friend of Pepperoni, she’s just as energetic and high spirited as her but also has a sense of superiority despite the odds against her team in general. Though she can be kind of rude and sassy at times, she’s always willing to be a team player when the time calls for it. She also has a bad habit of flirting with most people she meets.

Da-Vinci

She’s a prodigy freshman student from Anzio Girls High School that works part time at a military surplus store. She was original part of the Anzio Sensha-do club as a tank mechanic but got fed up with the team and quit early on while Anchovy was commander. She’s the only member in the school art, math, and engineering club and doesn’t have any friends. Nevertheless, she’s not afraid to give her honest opinions on anything. Though stubborn at times, she is willing to set aside her biases and assist if she’s feeling generous enough. She doesn’t like Italian food surprisingly enough but manages to put up with many of her classmates at Anzio. She got the nickname Da-Vinci because of her intellectual and artistic talents which placed her at the top of her freshman class.

Saunders University High School

An American Themed School with a massive budget. One of the richest schools in Japan despite being medicore in Sensha-do.

Alisa

She was once a top tier student at Tomio’s High School before making a switch to Saunders by her 2nd year. She’s absolutely bat-shit insane when it comes to her own ego and has constant mood swings either driven by her own desires to complete her own goals or from her strong admiration for a guy who she claims to be dating called Takashi. She cannot contain her cool at times and will throw insults and nag constantly just to get her point across. Though intelligent, she has no sense of honor when it comes to Sensha-do and has been known to bend the rules in her favor. Her main goal is to ascend to team commander for Saunders Sensha-do team once Kay is out. Just like with Anzio, her team had lost prior to making it to semi-finals.

Naomi

A third year Saunder's High Student and vice commander for the school's Sensha-do team. Unlike most of her team, she's calm and collected and is well known for her marksmanship skills on the field. She's often the voice of reason that contradicts Alisa's impulsive outbursts. She also likes to chew gum whenver she can. She claims chewing gum helps her focus.

Kay

Saunder's third year Sensha-do commander. Just like with all the other third years, she is graduating real soon and is supervising those who will be leading the team once they are gone. She has a very lively attitude and is known for her constant yet limited use of English phrases. In many ways, she is like an Anti-Darjeerling with no manners and is very casual with everyone including with her own Sensha-do team. She likes to tease Alisa about her supposed ex-boyfriend and is addicted to BBQ food. She plans to go to America once she graduates.

Helmet-Chan (no name)

Nobody really knows what her name is and most of the girl's at Saunders simply know her as the girl with the tank helmet. Her parents were very reluctant to let her join the school's Sensha-do team so she wears a helmet as a means of extra protection in what is often considered a somewhat safe sport. Since she is the loader in Alisa's tank crew, she is often pushed around by Alisa and is constantly on the frontline lines in terms of having to hear every single detail about Alisa's problem with boys. She's endured so much of it, that it's starting to alter her sanity and some of her teammates are starting to feel some concern that perhaps Alisa might push her to her breaking point.

St. Gloriana Girls' College

A school based off the culture and traditions of the United Kingdom. The school is well known for being one of the top teams in Japan for Sensha-do alongside schools like Ooari Girl's Academy, Pravda High School, and Kuromorimine Girl's Academy.

Darjeeling

A third year student at St Gloriana as well as the head tank commander for her school. She was able to defeat Anzio High in their previous match before the semi-finals. She’s very well mannered but does have a secret mischievous side to her. Just like Anchovy, she’s quite fond of literature but also has a fondness for media and pop culture. So much so, she’s taken it upon her self to memorize and retort quotes from all of these sources. She’s not a very good cook and her singing skills are rather abhorrent.

Orange Pekoe

She’s a first year at St. Gloriana’s College and serves as some kind of apprentice to Darjeeling. She’s very shy and is prone to be startled compared to her peers. Still, she does have a lot of respect and admiration for her commander and pretty much tags alongside her wherever she goes. She’s quite skilled at light gun games surprisingly and might be a pro-gamer in her spare time though those are just rumors.
